I only recently stumbled upon the bucket list linky an immediately loved the idea. So without further a do here is my bucket list for May.
1) To get back onto the fitness wagon. I recently really got really into HIIT (high intensity interval training) but fell off the wagon throughout April for many reasons such as Birthdays, weekends away and work.
2) Spend more time on Riding bikes with little Mr. He loves it but we really don’t do it enough.
3) To save at least £100 this month. This is a biggy a the last few months I have spent every penny I have earnt so I really need to be more frugal with my money.
4) To finish my book. A couple of months ago I began reading The doll house, I was really beginning to get into the plot and I just haven’t picked it up again. I miss reading adult books.
5) To go on a girls night out. Since children I have really scaled back on nights out, I fact they scarsely happen. So on my list is a girls night out though this one is cheating really as I do have a night out planned but it will be my first in a long time.
So short and sweet but hopefully it will be achievable. I will feel more accountable anyway!!
For Mothers day I treated my Mum to a champagne afternoon tea at the Cedar Court Grand Hotel in York. Due to mega busy work schedules we have only recently been able to actually go, but it was so worth the wait. We decided to make the most of our day and also treat ourselves to some ‘me time’ in the spa.
When we arrived it transpired they had a mix up with our booking fortunately they could quickly sort it out for us and we chose our treatments. I opted to get some gel fingernails as I rarely get chance to paint my nails and like the idea of having something that lasts a little longer than a massage. After our treatments we headed into the pool area and made the most of the sauna, steam room and jacuzzi.
We then got ready to head for our afternoon tea, which was amazing. We were presented with a huge tea list to choose from, we chose China Rose tea and it was devine. Everything about the afternoon was amazing from the silver cutlery and tea pots, to the huge yet delicate cake stand bursting with amazing treats.
The best part was they also did doggy bags (classy cake boxes and dainty paper bags) so we could take some treats home. Before heading home we had a nosey around the other rooms of the hotel. The decor is so sumptuous it really shouts luxury.
We had a great afternoon and will definitely return. I would love to stay in one of the rooms
(hint hint Mr H) .
Much to my husbands dismay I was extremely excited recently as we have had a huge new Next and John Lewis open nearby. I obviously took the first opportunity I could to go and spend.
We also have extremely generous family and received some gorgeous clothes for our Littles. I love clothes shopping for my children and both have lots of lovely outfits I generally find the boys selection of clothes less inspiring but Next have some great stuff in particularly for summer.
I can’t wait for them to wear all of their lovely new clothes, we go on holiday in a couple of weeks so they will be perfect.
We love this type of paint in our house. It is super easy to make and is great for toddlers. My Little boy lovers working with this paint as he has a lot more control over where the paint goes. Great for devloping those motor skills.
To make the paint all you need is a shaving foam, poster paints, pots, painting utensils and imagination.
I used this shaving foam because it is super cheap and my son has no allergies to any of the ingredients.
I use washable poster paints as I have found some others can easily stain clothes and skin.
You can add as much or as little to the bowls as you want. I find a tablespoons amount of paint is sufficient.
Give the paints a really good mix. I may have over mixed the blue one in this picture as it sems to have lost some of its ‘bounce’ but generally they are very fluffy.
These paints make great pictures as the leave a fluffy pasty texture behind when they dry. They are also great to splat acording to my son.
I have used these paints in various location and they have always washed away leaving no marks or stains. I am not sure if this is because we have used ‘washable’ paint as we havent tried it with other paint.
A few examples of our art work below.
Now maybe it’s just me but today really has been one of THOSE days. I hope nobody thinks I am ungrateful for what I have, I am certainly not and I do tell myself one day I will miss here hectic moments.
So it went a little like this.
Little Mr refused his breakfast because his spoon was dirty after he had put it into his cereal. He cried because he wanted to keep his pjs on, and then layer as he wanted them off. Little Miss had a lie in but she is a little off weather with a slight temperature, which means she is wingey. She is not a baby that cries usually and I know we are very lucky for that. We had a nice time building an enchanted forest out of play doh, but we had tears because his road was purple and he wanted it red even though he chose purple!! Little Miss had 3 outfit changes by lunch time due to explosions from one end or the other. She decided she was hungry, I mean mega hungry not been fed in EVER hungry so screamed blue murder at the precise point little Mr needed the toilet. I have these point when you are split between the two when they both need you equally and deserve your attention but what’s you do, who do you see to first?!? In this instance I chose to position Little Mr by the potty and sit and feed Little Miss. The extra freedom for Little Mr meant he decided to do some sort of hokey cokey dance whilst doing his business – I am very grateful to everyone who steered me away from replacing our laminate flooring with carpets!
Which leads me to where I am now feeding little Miss and resorting to a spot of Cbeebies because today is one of THOSE days.
Dear Little Mr and Little Miss,
Recently we looked back at some pictures of you both at around the same age.
We have always loved this picture of you Little Mr. It was taken on our honeymoon to the Dominican Republic. You were so relaxed as a baby and a joy to take anywhere, even the long haul flight was a diddle with you.
I remember buying this outfit as if it was yesterday, as soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it even thought you hadn’t even been born. It was was perfect for showing off your beautiful chunky baby legs. You were very strong and could lift our head up for some time by this point and you were even beginning to turn as if to roll over. We thought you might manage I whilst we were away with family but that didn’t happen for a few more weeks.
We knew we had to dress little Miss in the same outfit to recreate the pose and reflect on fond memories. You look just as adorable as your big brother and have the same chunky baby legs. Simply gorgeous.
Everybody says that Little Mr looks like Daddy and Little Miss like Mummy but sometimes Mummy and Daddy think you both look quite alike. Some of your expressions are exactly the same.
We are so lucky to have been blessed with two happy healthy babies.
Lots of love
Mummy & Daddy
So here we are.
Little Mr 2 (very soon to be 3)
Little Miss 17 weeks
Where has the time gone, it only seems like 2 minutes since our Little Mr came into the world and now our time with Little Miss is flying by too. This blog is for you both. Mummy and Daddy’s memories, thoughts, good times and bad (yep thats right we may well just write about those tantrums). Mainly and maybe selfishly it is for us too, so that when we are old we can look back on all the little memories that we may have forgotten over the years.
For our babies
We love you lots.
Mummy and Daddy
